Thank you John for writing. Painting is very satisfying to me. I like putting words to a scene so viewers understand what attracted my long gaze at the subject.
Hi Ron, Could you please tell me where I could get a copy of your article, "Restoring Art in the Church"? Or if you would be willing, just send me the attachment. It is a strong interest of mine and we are trying to do some things at LBC towards that end. Loved your work...checked out your gallery. Kathy
Hi Ron, Caught up with you via the Trinity Magazine in which you were featured on pg. 27. Good work. I read with interest your comments on Restoring Art in the Church. Good to see you enjoying your third (or fourth) career. I also refer you to the web site of my Son-in-Law, Rob Carey. It is http://kunst-by-rob. He is a sketcher and you will like his work. I'll tell him about your web site too. Your art bring back good memories of our times together on the TWU board. Blessings to you and Christine.
Hello Bobbe, thanks for taking the time to write. I have looked at your website and you are prolific, many good works of art. It sounds from your description of the 'Unruh' influence in your history that there may be some commonality. My predecessors came from Russia too, Ukraine (Crimea) precisely, and some settled in the USA and my father's dad came to Saskatchewan Canada, where I was also born. Since then I have lived in Ontario and now in beautiful British Columbia. Art is who I am. It's the way I see things, feel things. I am trusting that the North American church will recover art within the church and use it positively for inspiration and enhancing worship.
Dear Ron, I read your comment on R. Genn's newsletter and was intrigued by your name, Unruh. I remember relatives in my father's family named Unruh and wonder if we could be distantly related? My father was also a pastor, being raised as a Mennonite, but was ordained as a Baptist minister. My grandmother was a Warkentien who immigrated from Russia as a child and settled in Kansas, USA, where all my family lived. Enough of my family history. I admire you for returning to your interest in art after a life of service in the church. There were no visual artists in my family and I've always wondered why and how I ever developed my passion for painting but it is how I intend to spend my life until they put me in the grave. If you would like to see my work, check out my website http://www,BergenDennis.com Sincerely, Bobbe Bergen Dennis
Nancy, you hae the right family, but the wrong brother. You are thinking of Murray Unruh and his now wife Diane whose maiden name was Dibbley. He too is painting and food at it. You may want to look at his website as well. Please write me at my email address and I will send you his details. ronunruhgallery@gmail.com Ron ( I also graduated from OBC in 69)
