I am sitting across from a stately sweep of the mountains along the Jasper to Banff highway. My painting was completed following that trip, and it is now in a private collection in USA. During the last decade I have accelerated my artistic output, yet drawing and painting has been a lifelong avocation. As a young man I had planned to become a graphic artist and instead art became a pastime. Visual pictures yielded to word pictures as I enrolled in theological training. I drove to college in a used '57 VW Beetle procured in trade for a painting. I never regretted my choice of altruistic service and in August 2008 I retired after investing forty-five years as a church pastor and denominational executive and obtaining master's and doctoral degrees. I picked up my palette and brushes and returned with passion to the canvas to paint the faces and the places of God's creation. It seems to fit.
